There are many advantages to being your own boss. As one business owner says, "My days go very fast. I am amazed how many hours I can work and it doesn't feel like it's drudgery. I sometimes work 10, 11, 12 hours or so a day--10 being the minimum that my shop is open, so I need to be here those 10 hours. And I can easily do those 10 hours; whereas, if I had to work for a company, once past 8, I could feel very stressed out with all the other things that, you know, are associated with a whole large company. And this way, I can minimize those types of things and streamline my business to suit my needs, not only my customers' needs." On the other hand, owning a business can be a lot more work than being an employee. As another business owner says, "I think entrepreneurship is right for some people and not right for others. The thing about being an entrepreneur is it's a full-time job, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which means it's a lifestyle choice, not a career choice. I didn't know that when I was getting into it. If you want to go home at night and if you don't want to think about work, then I would suggest don't be an entrepreneur."
